Over on my Facebook page I shared a What Worked Well section and I thought it would be a great idea to bring it to my website. These are free resources that I would like to share with you and give you an idea of what I have in my Resource Centre. If you’d like to keep in touch then please sign up to my newsletter, which is sent out every Sunday.

Odd One Out (also called Spot the Intruder) is a Conti-style low prep activity that is great for recycling previously learned vocabulary. You can do if for any level by theme or just as a quick starter to review a range of useful vocab.

Mosaic Translation is a listening activity but it is actually one of the activities that I really like to do in pairs or small groups as a ‘quieter’ translation / reading activity. You can also springboard from this to other reinforcement activities.

The Fast & Furious activity is designed to encourage learners to repeat orally (and also in a written form if you prefer) structures that they are working on following lots of input activities with the aim of building automaticity.

This Missing Words No Gaps exercise is great for all levels of learners - it is a scripted listening exercise to encourage a more thorough processing of aural text. It can then be used to springboard onto other activities.

Spot the Difference is a really great way to encourage learners to listen intently and focus on specific vocab, a specific tense, a time phrase, numbers, times, dates - anything we are currently working on or I think we could recycle.

Aural Sentence Scramble is just like a normal sentence scramble but instead of reading, the learners listen to you reading the sentences all scrambled up and they have to jot the words down in the correct order & it can be quite tricky!

Oral Ping Pong is usually done in pairs, and encourages learners to practise what they have been working in a highly organised and structured way. I usually develop the ping pongs from a passage that we have already worked on
